This park is obviously very well run and maintained, and is probably the best RV facility in the area. The personnel are all friendly and helpful, and all the public facilities are clean and functional. Our site, which was located on the upper level of the park: was good sized and easy to back into, with the help of one of the park personnel. It's not far from the beach horizontally, but vertically is another matter: long steep stairways! The morning munchies were a nice touch, and we appreciated the newspaper delivery in the morning. All in all, a very pleasant experience.
This is a very well laid out park, with level concrete pads and lots of grass at each site. The sites are about twice as large as you'll find at most parks, very roomy, with a picnic table at each one. The public facilities were clean, functional and spacious. The only reason I couldn't give the place a 10 is the silly 25 cent charge for each five minutes of shower use. The park is a short walk from the Evergreen Aviation Museum, which houses a marvelous collection of aircraft and spacecraft. It's really a must see for anyone interested in aviation. McMinnville is a charming town, with a lively and historic main street. You'll probably want to extend your stay here.
Here's the reality; if you are in need of a really decent RV Park in the area just north of Seattle, this is the only game in town. We've stayed in a couple of the parks along Highway 99 south of Everett, and won't do it again. Lake Pleasant has the characteristics of being visually appealing with lakes, ducks and trees, clean restrooms and showers, good maintenance of its roads and sites, friendly and competent staff, and relatively high rates. Yes: many of the sites are less than level, some are too narrow, and the idea that you have to put planks under your jacks to keep from sinking through the asphalt is a bit bizarre. It's still the only game in town. I don't use the park Wi-Fi, but my son was able to pick up a very strong signal on our site in the rear row of the park. We will return next year; there is no choice.
We've stayed here many times before, and the place just keeps getting better. Anyone who is considering building and operating a high quality RV Park should come to Canyonville and study this operation. It's truly faultless. The setting, with wooded hills on three sides, is grand. The sites are perfectly laid out and outfitted. The amenities are everything you could ask for. And the staff are very friendly and courteous. And all for a very reasonable price! This is a class act.
We generally try not to use Highway 5 through the San Joaquin Valley, partly because it is so boring, but also because we had yet to find a decent RV Park for overnighting. On this trip, our schedule demanded the use of the boring I-5 all the way up to Oregon from SoCal. We read the reviews of the Kit Fox Park, and decided to push through to Patterson before stopping for the night. We're really glad we did. It's a relatively young park, with well designed and perfectly clean public areas. The sites are in great shape, everything on ours worked perfectly. It's located far enough from the highway that noise is not a problem. There are no ants, no broken down RV's anchored to their sites. They don't have cable TV yet, but they are getting it in. The office personnel are friendly and helpful, and there are some decent fast food outlets nearby. We'll definitely return whenever we need to use the San Joaquin section of the I-5.
A very pleasant RV Park, quiet, no highway noise, well-maintained, and very dog-friendly. The management personnel are personable and accommodating. We had breakfast in their diner, and the biscuits and gravy were commendable. Showers and restrooms were immaculate. Regarding Tucumcari, stay a day and visit their Dinosaur Museum (awesome) and their historical museum, which should be a model for every town's display of their history. We didn't give it a nine because their jacuzzi wasn't operating, and we only give tens to Outdoor Resorts level facilities. This is definitely the best Park in Tucumcari.
We regret that our schedule requires that we leave tomorrow after only two nights here. Next time, we'll schedule a week! This is a great little park in a wonderful location, particularly if you're visiting the Grand Canyon. The town of Williams is charming and fun, with lots of shops and restaurants. Beer fanciers, try the Sultana Ale at the Sultana Bar downtown. Regarding the park, the new restrooms and showers are great, lots of hot water, and lots of room. Our site, at the top of the hill, was perfectly level and had a great view. The utilities were flawless, with the exception of a leaky water valve, which was pointed out to the staff while hooking up. It was fixed the next day. We really enjoyed it here, and look forward to returning.
We were very positively impressed with this park. It is primarily a residential enclave, and park models predominate. The management makes it obvious that they intend to provide first rate service to the itinerant crowd, such as short-timers like us. We were guided to a lovely, grassy site near the bathhouse by a young lady who was more than helpful in getting us acquainted with the park, and even gave our spoiled-rotten dog a ride in her golf cart. The utilities were first-rate, the rest rooms were spotless, and the showers were just this side of Outdoor Resorts! We experienced courtesy and professionalism at each contact with the staff. We even got an introduction to the Park's Guard Bird, a Killdeer who had planted her eggs near the Office. My dog wants me to mention the large grassy areas that are available for walks and exercise. There is currently a bridge under repair that requires a rather lengthy detour to get to the park. Take the detour; it's worth it!
KOA Parks are generally well managed, clean, and provide good family facilities. I have no complaints about this parks cleanliness or facilities. But it seemed a bit disorganized when we were assigned to a site which turned out to be occupied by one of their Workampers. The site we were shifted to required the water hose to be run under the coach to the adjoining site. The people in the site next to us had parked their tow dolly next to our picnic table, and the KOA management had not required them to move it. These aren't major complaints; but when a RV Park is charging what most would consider to be premium rates, you might expect exceptional sites, competent management, and a unique experience. You won't find it at the Wilmington KOA.
This was a very good camping experience. Site accessibility is very good, utilities are in good shape, our site, though gravel, was fairly level. The staff was very helpful and accommodating, and the general ambiance was excellent. There is a very healthy creek running through the park, and a fishing pond. A group of sites further up the hill provides more solitude. And we should point out that this is the only good campground in the area, midway between Waynesboro and Charlottesville. If you're visiting Monticello, this is the place to stay. Don't neglect James Monroe's home, either, just a few miles from Jefferson's.
This Park represents the reason we never have any misapprehensions when booking into a KOA. The people were friendly and helpful, the place was well-groomed, the restrooms were well maintained and clean, and all the site utilities were in good shape. This Park is on a hillside, with lots of trees, and you should probably unhook your toad at the office. One of the hosts will help you get spotted. There are nature trails for dog walking, and the place is very pet friendly. The big bonus here is the location; you're close to the Natural Bridge (a must see), Blue Ridge Parkway, Poplar Forest, and a lot of other atractions, not the least of which is the town of Lexington. The Washington and Lee campus and VMI are each beautiful, and the Lee Chapel and Museum is also a must see. We planned to spend three days here and wound up staying five. In general, a remarkably lovely area.
Not much to add to previous comments; this is a RV park that really cares about providing a quality experience to your stay here. The sites are plenty adequate in size, concrete, level, with perfectly functioning utilities. The bath house is wonderfully appointed, great showers. As a dog person, I want to point out the wonderful grassy meadows that surround the camping area; my good friend, the perfect Golden Retreiver, had a wonderful time here. I think you will too.
This place wasn't the RV Park that we had originally decided on for our stay, but a wrong turn took us here. One look, and we decided that we had found our spot. The location is flawless, right on the bank of the French Broad River, a quiet large river of great beauty. The park is beautifully landscaped and extraordinarily well maintained, and the sites are all concrete pads, perfectly level. The sites at the riverbank are all head-in, so you can open you drapes in the morning and see the beautiful river. The staff are extremely helpful and accommodating, and the restroom/showers are clean and very nicely appointed. We do think that they would increase their business by at least fifty percent if they were to reduce their rates by 25 percent. The place was never more than one quarter full during the five days we were there. Regardless, we wouldn't stay anywhere else in the area. The Deli just up the hill is great for lunches.
We chose this campground because the one recommended to us, Hunting Island, was full. We think we got lucky. Our principal focus for this visit was the Beaufort area, and this campground is 16 miles closer than the Hunting Island site is. It was relatively easy to get to, if you do some careful route planning. At check-in, the staff was pleasant and accommodating, and we were escorted to a spacious site not far from the restrooms and showers. The park is beautifully wooded, with live oak and palmettos. The utilities are in good condition. There is a nature trail over a "low country" area (we don't say swamp), which was of interest. A large grassy area with a children's playground was provided. Woodsy roads and paths were great for dog-walking. We had a great experience here, and will definitely book here again when we're in the area.
